Hello everyone. Was referred to this site by a friend so I figured I'd get this ball rollin.
I am picking up a 72 CL100 tonight, running, and in great shape for $300, with title.
It runs pretty well but obviously needs some work. Seams to idle a little low and occasionally stalls if you don't give it gas. It also apparently leaks some oil once it gets warmed up but it is coming with a brand new complete gasket set. So I plan on doing that as well.
Once I get it running better I plan on stripping it down and restoring it. New paint all around, and replacing whatever needs replaced.
Visually I like the look of the Honda in the banner at the top of this page. I want it to be a two seater, and I want to either put clip-ons or clubman bars on it.
Let me know what you guys think, and any and all advice is appreciated!

Welcome to DTT!
Nice bake to start with! Where is it leaking oil from? The low idle could be a simple fix. Dial the points in and clean/adjust the carbs. Make sure you get yourself a proper manual for the bike as well.
You may want to rethink the 2 up idea though. The 100 is a tiny bike, and makes very little power. Setting her up as a nice, super stripped down, cafe styled bike would give you the most bang for your buck.

Have not looked into the oil leak yet. Seller just told me about it. Once I pin point it I will let you know.
I will also post more pictures tonight once I get it home.
I know it doesn't have a lot of power, and I will primarily be riding it by myself. However, since my wife rides a scooter that is beyond uncomfortable to double up on, I'd rather at least have the option to double up on this when we need to.

I see. Well have at it than! As long as youre having fun! There are tons of options to get a little more get up out of that bike as well.

good luck, bike should be cool, I love the cls, and sounds like a great deal too. nice score. I have to agree, you will not set any land speed records on this thing, and with a passanger oh boy. I have a cb125 and acceleration is not its stronge point but they handle crazy. keep up to date with the progress, will be watching for sure.

Oh and the guy dropped it off last night it came with the repair manual. Pretty sweet.
Of course I am not familiar with bikes with chokes, so it will take some practice learning how to get the damn thing to start.

Thats nothing man. When its cold, close the choke. Wait till it warms up, than open it. Youll have no issues there.

Wow I feel really dumb.
Is "closed" down, or up?
It started right up tonight and I got it to idle pretty well a couple times, but even when it was idling well it would shut off after at 30-60 seconds.
Does that sounds like choke, carb, or something else?

The lever "up" should close the choke so you can start it. If you look really close, it should be labeled as well.

Also... the battery cover on the left side is broken. Should I relocate the battery and just remove them, or should I fabricate something? I have a machinist in the family, so I could probably fab something pretty cool up if I wanted to.

Is it really cold outside where you are? Sometimes if its real cold you need to give it some gas to get it warmed up. You could also need a good carb/petcock cleaning. Also... check to make sure your timing and points are where they need to be.

It's decently cold... but I was running it in my garage last night, so it shouldn't have been too cold.
I think I'll probably start with the spark plug cause they're cheap and easy and it probably needs one regardless, and than move on to the carb. Give it a good cleaning. Than see how she runs.
Like I said, starts right up first kick, just has a hard time staying running without giving it gas.
