Hmm.. it's going to be a tough judgement on who has the nicer XS by the time you & Tintin finish... you guys deserve your own biker build-off special!

NICE SEAT!  I might have to get me one of those some day.  Is it from WBO?  I couldn't see it on their site.  They have reasonable prices for the tanks (about US$650) compared to the Tank Shop or other places, but shipping and duties/taxes would add a lot to that.

Some very nice stuff on that WBO site.  I'll have to start saving my pennies for the next project ;)

I'm with DrJ on this one. Don't get me wrong ... I think Thanatos's bike is pretty awesome, but there's so many modern bits on there that it's almost skinning a new bike with old bits instead of the other way around.

The Enfield Continental tank used to be priced at $761.00 in my old No. 7 catalog, but now they are priced at almost a $1,000.00!

Looks great!

If the period guys had the technology at the time they would have done the same thing, lol.

Well,

Been it's while since my last update. Really nothing much going on with the bike. Found some clip-ons and a pair of sweetass (IMHO) grips at the local junkyard.

GOOD NEWS:
Christmas was good this year and I sold my other dirtbike ('00 KX) so I'm loaded with cash, just need to find the right bits at the right price and I should have the XS running in no time. I'm also moving into a smaller apartment which means less money for rent-> more money for the bikes.

BAD NEWS
My main concern at the moment is getting the wheels set up. I was  really hoping I could go with shouldered 18"s but the swingarm doesn't leave enough room for it so I'm stuck with 17"s. At least finding suitable tires will be a bit easier. Getting  a 36-spoke front wheel with dual 320mm discs is also presenting a bit of a problem, any help would be welcome. The only thing I've found so far is from a Moto-Guzzi, but with 40 spokes. I'm also currently the highest bidder on a 17-4" BMW tubeless spoke rear wheel and 17-2.5" front rim. They just looked so trick that I made a bid on them without really thinking it through. Not even sure if I can have cross-spoked rims with my stock rear hub. Hopefully I'll get outbid and can return to normal rims, or maybe not......

just news

Even though I haven't really been able to get anything substantial done on the bike this month, the 3 week holiday gave me plenty of time for planning, so right now I know exactly what I need to do and where I can get the stuff I need to do it.

I did'nt really like this setup.

So I'm going probably going to go with this:

Got the battery tray and rear loop done.

I'm going to have to get the mufflers rechromed anyways so I was thinking about getting the ends cut off. And maybe drop the mufflers and inch or two.

I have a big surprize coming along with the wheels. I should have the wheels set up within a week. I'm also going to post something about the seat in the seat section over this weekend.

That seat is amazing, I can't stop looking at it. It must look awesome in person.

I agree with you, I like the two pipes on the same side. Also, I would drop them a little bit, don't want to impede any view of that seat  ;D

I can't wait to see this all done.
