The Don't drink and eBay CB750
« on: Jan 12, 2011, 18:47:55 »
Well I was out at a bar one night drinking and waiting for a few friends to show up so I started playing around on eBay on my Iphone.
I found this rusted ugly CB750 near where I was working cheap.
I put in a bid for $325 as thats what I had that I knew I could just drop on another bike.
I really thought someone would out bid me seeing as the bike ran and had a clear title.
No one did and i won for $315!
Its a 95% there 1971 CB750.
I think it was a great buy!

How she started.

stripped down to have the frame powdercoated.

starting to polish

Going to build a cafe out of the bike.
waiting on some condor bars and rearsets

some of the best luck I've had is with engines that look like they sat at the bottom of a swamp for 100 years, and some of the worst luck was had with engines that were very clean... funny how that works.

Can't go wrong for that kind of dough. You could have easily parted it out for twice that. Looking forward to seeing some progress!

Excellent score.  Proof that something good can come from drinking.  Kind of like music and drugs.

He had it listed on CL for a few weeks at like a grand.

it was ugly as hell and sat outside for 10 years+

but hell it ran and had a title!

How does coke work on carbs!? Really curious, I know its incredibly corrosive but wasnt sure how well it worked! Looking forward to seeing the finished product on the carbs to get a better sense!

So you are trying to 'Blame it on the alcohol'?  Sorry, just had to use that one.  Looks like a pretty good deal.
