my 2 strokes i'd heat cycle twice or three times and then just run it like i stole it... anyone have break in tips of for a newly bored/pistoned 4 stroke?

Progressive loading over the first twenty miles of riding.  Try not to keep it at one RPM for too long.

I ran mine up to 5000 RPM in first gear and then used compression braking to come back down.  Do that half a dozen times and repeat again at 6000, 7000, and then 8000 RPM.  Then ride it like you stole it for the rest of the twenty miles.  Don't do this on a cold engine, though.  Warm it up first.

You should be good to go after that.

well, it's done! took it out last night for the first time, just to the gas station and back, and I've been riding around all morning today! I get that a project like this is never quite finished, but it's a runner and it's not going to get materially different any time soon... just bugs to work out. I need to iron out the idle and I've got some early mid throttle lumpiness, but just off idle and as soon as you get into the throttle it's niiice... I have to seal the gas cap neck a bit better and im going to put some kind of Honda badging on it.... but ya, this is the bike!

many thanks to PJ, Sonreir, Surffly and others for technical advice... if you helped me out and I forgot to mention your name I apologize, but I very much appreciated everything. and thanks to all the Do The Ton community for the support and inspiration that kept me going to get to the finish line!

Yeah, great job. I really love that tank. Might use it on one of my bikes later.

Better IMO just know when to draw back I think sticking with the black is plenty classy. Looks nice. But now stop adding things. Perfect as is. I'd rock it proudly. How's the jetting coming?

ya, good advice! I had no plans to do anything further cosmetically but it doesn't hurt to get some opinions!

I've now got 25 pilots in... waaay better than before. I confess that I haven't tried very hard to tune it at all... was out of town for the weekend and when I got back I was so excited to ride I just tossed in the 25's, turned the screws out 1and a half turns and hit the road! so the idle is still irregular and when it's cold it coughs if you grab a handful off idle or near idle (ok when warm) so I guess I'm close... I'll put some more effort into it shortly!
