Brat in the works CB500T update - DONE!!! :D
« on: May 23, 2011, 19:18:01 »
Heres what I rode the snot out of last year before I tore it down, 75 CB500T:

Pretty rusty and rotten, had electrical woes, no 1st gear, slipping clutch, shifter worn and some blue smoke...

Update:

got taillight, signals, rear fender mounted today, motor is completely disassembled, painted, and honed. Waiting on some parts right now,
inside motor was really clean for 23000+ miles, mind you was some damage to one of the shift forks and gears (1st). Looks like they rubbed each other as shift fork has a big arc groove in it and side of the gear is worn. detent roller is fine, but neutral one is worn... would that cause 1st to wear as such? Gotta repair that... then assemble! Pretty much all that is left now is seat an electrical!

lol, i used a flat pan, cut down the original seat foam, then i used my old back seat out of my Duster and cut that up for the tuck and roll upholstery. Used rivets to attach it on the underside, can take a photo of the seat if you like

Well shes closer to done now! lol a
Only thing holding me up now is to have someone else look at where i peened the cam chain myself just for peace of mind, and one of the lock nuts on the valve adjusters is stripped so i couldnt adjust the last valve. all thats left now is to see what room i have to mount all the electrical, wire it and give everything a final tightening/inspection!

that is a really slimed down look.  makes me feel like my bike looks "busy".  I'm sure the lack of carbs are adding to the visual effect, but still looks nice and light.

Sweet,

I like the seat and rear fender. Did you use textured paint on the rear wheel hub? It looks good, especially on a brat. Not digging the handlebars like that, but to each his own. Keep it comin. How is the exhaust noise, extra loud?! Did you throw in any type of baffle?

Great work man

Havent fired her up yet, still in the midst of wiring, maybe driving tomorrow night! wheels are powdercoated a silver vein hammertone. I dont like the bars either but they have to do until i can get some more $ for a newer set. exhaust is up in the air still, dunno what to do but it will be loud lol!
