Riddler CB360 Cafe Build (Condensed)

Hey D20,
 
Have you had the bike running yet?  I am interested in what you have found with respect to carb tuning.  I am running the stock keihen's (sp?) and am reading a lot about rejetting due to open exhaust and pod filters.  I am now thinking about running the shorty mufflers like the ones you have mounted up and don't know what affect that would have on the system.
 
My bike runs but fouls out plugs pretty consistently, I am pretty certain that by the look of the plugs it is runnign rich at the low to mid rpm range.  I have read that jumping from 105's to 112.5's is a good place to start.  You found anything like this to be true?

Scrambler, I used Mikuni VM30's from DCC that were pre-jetted for a 350. I ended up leaning out the needle to its leanest setting. It starts beautifully and runs well. I think I may change the pilot jet a bit but I need to ride it more before I make any assumptions. I heard horror stories about the stock carbs before I even started my build. Decided to skip the headache. Glad I did too because I have several projects in line after this one.

D20, did you figure out your points cover yet?  I had the same issues with mine.  It was the connectors on the end of the blue & yellow wires that were hitting the cover.

You need to change the position of the wire/connector where it connects to the bottom of the actual points assembly.  Just undo the screws where the wire attaches, like if you were changing the points, and turn/flip them (however necessary) so that the connector is not hitting the cover.

I tried moving the position of the wires but unfortunately its either a wire length issue or the size of the point assembly (not sure if the aftermarket points have the same depth dimension. I plan on making a bakelite spacer for the cover to insulate it to work out the bugs. Thanks for the tip though!

I'm leaving town today until Tuesday. I'll try and get you some close up photos when I return. I made a simple tray for the bottom of the battery and used the mounts from the original tool box to bolt it in. The battery is held in the tray with a black leather dog collar that I redrilled and cut to size. I saw the dog collar idea on the forum but unfortunately I don't remember who I need to credit for it.

I had the same issue with my points cover. I think the aftermarket points kit are just a little bigger than the stock ones. There was just one spot that was touching. Ground a small recess (size of a dime) on the inside of the cover with a dremel. Be careful not to go all the way through. It's pretty thick aluminum though.

By the way. Love this bike. The way it should be.
