I decided to give the vinyl DWMS Racing decals I had cut for the CB450 tank emblems a hammered look, it took me a few extra hours of work however I love the way they came out!

I still have some polishing I want to do however this is how the hammered DWMS Racing emblems look with clear, it was really hard to get a good photo of the emblems as the clear is so bright so this one was taken in the shade with no flash.

Looking good man!

How did you achieve the hammered look on the vinyl?

Thank you Brother!

The emblems started out as regular smooth vinyl, I dimpled them with the corners of a couple different sized screwdrivers and I also used two different nails! I wanted it to look really random so that is why I used different things to achive different size dimples, I actually found that a small screwdriver with a broken tip left the best marks.

To get the smooth finish I sprayed a couple coats of clearcoat over the decals and wet sanded the clear after it dried with 2500 sand paper, after I wet sanded I hand polished the clear with 3M compound.

Hmmm, never would have thought, and I've done the same type of treatment to furniture.. Good thinking Joe. ;D

I had originally planned on running mufflers on this bike however I decided I wanted her a little louder so I built a set of drag pipes for her! I really think the small drag pipes fit the classic look I am trying to keep, what do you all think?

Those look great.  Only other style I could think of to really nail the look would be peashooters.

The gold paint looks amazing, hard to believe it came out of a spray can! Great job.
