I need 7".  But remember, my spindle is the smaller 13mm not the normal 15mm.

Wow, more than 60 days old!   Ouch...    Anyway, I've been rushing to get the bike ready for Mid-Ohio Vintage Days.   But, it didn't fire up.   I found out a week later, it was just a slightly clogged idle jet!    Even though I can see light thru it, the hole had residual old gas on the inside!

Also, the top bolt on the motor was left off.   That, I found out, is the ground path for the coils.    I cleaned out the jet with a cleaning wire.    Finally, she fires up!   I'm more stoked now!    I was getting quite disappointed during the start-up stage.   As for the kickstart issue, I ended up just spinning the rear wheel in 3rd gear while the bike is on a rear stand.   On the road, it will bump start easy enough in 2nd or 3rd.

Anyway, she's now running with the high comp 122cc piston, xr200 big valve head and the newer PD97 Keihin 26mm carb.   With the CL100 header and FMF XR100r muffler, she sounds actually kinda mean!   I took a spin around the block and it's quite the stretch to the bars, almost cb400f-like with clip-ons!    Handles nicely around the corners and has decent power to move it nicely.

Next, I'll be welding tabs on the frame to mount the battery, tail-light, regulator and rear rack.   I'm using a 12 volt scooter battery, RadioShack rectifier, GL1000 3 wire regulator and a rear rack from a Honda Elite SA50 scooter.

For the rear tail light, I'm building a 60 LED light.

I had to sideline the electronic ignition until I have a running bike.   So, I'll jump back on that development.   The stage one version will be a Velleman ignition that triggers off the points.    I didn't end up making a harness but I just used a stock one from a parts bike.

I found a clean speedo from a CB100.  I like the looks of that as it reminds me of my first experience with a Honda.

I'll use a Tiny Tach at first since I have one lying around from my recent scooter project.   Later, I'll get the Acewell 1550T tach/display.

Sorry for no pics.   I'll upload some tomorrow.

Here are a couple of pics this morning.  I rolled it out to make a quick vid of it started and idling.

Here's a vid:

The noise is the camchain, I think.   It may be too tight.   98 links was too tight and 100 was too loose.  I used the 98 link with a modified tensioner but it seems still too tight.    The noise drops down when I rev it.

On second view, the audio got out of sych.  If anyone can help me on a free video editor for QT movies, that would really help me.

The noise turn out to be a broken clip that keeps the kickstarter ratchet in place.   With the broken clip, it was ratcheting all the time.   I just removed it.  I don't use the kickstarter anyway now.

l'll be welding tabs and cleaning up the electric.   The next major item will be the seat.   Thinking about getting a Honda 04-05 RS125 tail.   I want something small and sharp/pointy looking.   Similar to MotoGP3 bikes or Aprilias.

The LED brake light, electronic hybrid ignition (posted elsewhere) and turn signal controller (also posted elsewhere) are done.     I worked on the electric wiring a bit.   Still more organizing to do.  I need to extend the stator connector so it is off the frame and under the seat area with the rest of the electrical parts.

I then welded in the rear brake switch bracket, coil bracket and a regulator bracket.

Here is a shot of the battery tray.  It's kept on with an old-school bicycle toe clip strap.

For a tach, I'll use my Tiny Tach from my previous scooter project.  Also, I mounted the new headlight and bucket.    The left switch assembly is from a CBR929/954rr.   I like the feel of new switch gear.   Wiring it was a little work.

I still have trouble with the neutral switch detecting neutral.   The switch was cut back so it pushes into the cases further.   An uncut one doesn't work at all.

I'll probably make a temporary seat so I can ride it around a little and break in the new rings.   I still need to weld on a brake light/plate bracket, connect the brake switch with spring to the brake pedal

Thanks, CRQ.   Not much progress at all.   I have a pre-made seat, not yet mounted.  The exhaust is being redesigned.  It was a little misaligned with possible interference with the rear tire's vertical travel.  I donated the Fmf muffler to my son's cb100.  I bought an identical second one for me but the can is polished and it is new.  I need more practice fabing/welding the exhaust anyway.   No real good excuses.  Just busy with life/kids/house, especially during the summer.   I did work on the shop, adding a sub panel, T8 lighting, 220 line for the compressor and a dedicated 20amp line for the my new-to-me Lincoln SP125 welder.   I'll take some pics tonight where it's at and post tomorrow.

Another infrequent update.  Busy busy busyyy (with other stuff)!

Anyway, some shots in the garage.  Still need to hang a couple of T8's over the parking half of the garage.  The workspace half is done.

The only new items are the cafe seat (still needs mounting tabs welded and trimmed),

speedo mounted

Here, notice I have almost 10 minutes of break in.
About half was idling to get in a few heat cycles.
Other half was riding it at part throttle around the block to do a "shake down" run.

At higher throttle input, it misses a bit.  Maybe due to a 110 jet.  Remember, it is a 26mm carb tho.  Cool thing about these bigger PD XL carbs is that I can swap main jets without removing it from the motor!  I drain the carb and remove a large 17mm cap on the bottom for easy access to the main jet.  Nice for tuning it in!   I changed it to a 100.  I'll check it again once I have the new exhaust fabbed.  If it still misses, I need to remember what RPM it occurred.

tail light mounted

relocated muffler

and rear brake light switch

That's it for now.  Thanks for looking.

Your bike is really sweet bro! Love everything you have done! Those rearsets look killer! What kind of speedo are you using? Where did you get it? You MUST finish her soon! jajaja

Thanks!  I appreciate it!   Like I said prior, I'm in no rush and want to take my time.  I like the process.  Besides, once it's done, the fun (mostly) is over.

The rearsets are from Durgam_K here at this forum.   The speedo is a stock CB100 in good condition.  I was going to go with a electronic modern speedo but I really like the CB part as it reminds me of my yoot (youth)!

Anyway, sorry.  It's done when it's done.   Once I get it all fitted, I take it all apart and finish it (PC, paint, plate, etc).  This is still the dry fit stage.   Need to make sure it all assembles correctly with all needed brackets, good fitment, etc.   I'll likely re-harness it too to clean up the wiring.

Ok, I'll try to get better at updating.  Winter is fast approaching and it's been almost a year.   I'll post the whole build here even if there are huge gaps in updates.

I'm on a few other forums so I get distracted easily.   Which forum I'm at depends what's sparking interest or what I'm actively working on.   The forums I check out are: cb125 yahoo, cb400f yahoo, Ducati Monster DMF, BMW e46, garage journal and lately, the Pelican Porsche 911 board.   I used to be on the cb160 and the SuperHawk 305 forums.  But since I no longer have those bikes, I drop out.   This board is cool for the fact the no matter what bike you have, you can count on expert info.   You don't really need bike specific forums but those forums are useful being so focused.

Unfortunately, no.  Since the bike is in the garage w/ winter upon us, I won't make much progress until spring.  Last winter, I worked in the basement shop.   Now, the remaining work requires welding, painting and basically work that can't be done indoors.   Also, I have a couple of other bikes from friends I have to work on ahead of mine.   I will post when I finish the new exhaust, which is up next.
