Man, you should have hella torque with the length of those intake runners, plus the extra velocity of having just one carb....

Its alive !  Ended up swapping the coil connectors around and it fired up instantly what a simple fix.  It does run lean on left cylinder and rich on the right but hey its running with the single carb.  Its almost finishied ! need to figure out my license plate mounting and tie up a few loose ends but she is almost ready for the street.  Here are two videos and some more pics:

How's the heat around the legs from the pipes?

Actually not bad at all, Still probably going to header wrap them.  The powder coat on the pipes wasnt heat rated and the left pipe is bubbling by the head.  It is running lean on left cylinder and rich on the right because of the single carb and 180 degree crankshaft. Not much else I can do other than going back to two carbs. Might end up going with a different exhaust that has mufflers.  I went into the open header idea saying that if the Harley guys all over town can do it I can do it but I think it is just too obnoxious. It is way louder in person / riding it  ;)

Video please! ;D  As far as the lean condition.......there are several guys on xs400.com that are running single carb setups with good results I would check that out before you switch back to 2. I looked into to it for my xs400 because my mono-shock made fitting two carbs a challenge. The bike looks great by the way.

Installed some "lollipops" in the headers and it took the bite off the sound and started the wrapping the pipes.  After they dry I will be doing the high temp silicone spray on them that should blackin them up a bit more.
