I cleaned the engine and carbs with a sand blaster, and I used glass as my media. That's my Go-To choice for cleaning aluminum parts and resurfacing other metals

I welded the bulk of my frame rails, which will be supporting the seat cowl, and hiding the battery and electronics. I've got a few more items to add to the mess. It's a struggle trying to align everything, so that the seat and new seat cowl flow seamlessly together.

I'm going to work on purchasing a new Tacho and I'm not going to use the velocity stacks, as I originally planned. I'm going to throw on some oval tapered uni-pods as the V. Stacks would surely flood my carbs with debris in no time.

I'm kinda digging the solid grey color... Duplicate that in paint and it'd be killer.

I kinda agree...even primer is better than that original factory red, wow yuck.  It all looks better.  That original seat w the molded in side covers.  bad very bad.
everything youve done is a huge improvement.

Battleship grey would look killer on this bike. I love the tank and seat lines  :).

Lately I've been thinking about using a Streetfighter-ish headlight as, the 80's tank doesn't seem to flow all that well with a standard 5.5" circular headlight, I may also just make a very small fairing to cover the electronics or something.. These are some of the options I've been considering, so feel free to tell me what you think...

The bottom one (V-Rod style) would look the best IMO. Personally I think a lot of the transformer/alien head looking streetfighter headlights are ugly as sin.

yeah, I'm leaning toward that V-Rod style headlamp. Everything else seems to be a little much.

Bolted and lined up the seat with 1/2" weather stripping between the bottom of the seat and frame rails for added cusheyness, Added the rear tailing and plate holder... electronics tray is almost finished!

Nice job so far.  I think Audi used a similar grey on the TT a few years back.  If you're going for that 80's superbike theme, how about red white and blue like a honda VFR?? You could add a belly pan to it too.  8)

I'm going to go gloss black with two racing stripes down the middle and add a (bmw) red leather or vinyl seat to make the tank and the cowl mate together seamlessly, although a belly pan is ALWAYS a great idea... so I might just have to consider one.

The gray colour is just primer filler :) ... I feel I need to add a red leather, in order to go along with the red caliper
