Well.... yeah.... certainly a definite Willowy look to it ;)

But to be fair, it looks like these guys have been around a bit, certainly do a fair bit of work and there are comments on their boardtracker prototype drawings on Facebook dating back to October 2010 - well over a year ago.

Tim, check the link I posted: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150451205680001.549537.428566455000&type=1

The comments you note are for a different setup

Here's an actual photo:

Holy crap, that is scary. Wonder where that idea came from....

Edit: see what I mean?

Again, only to play devil's advocate, this drawing was posted up on Facebook in Oct 2010 (based on the dates of comments left on it). So no question the frame with the curved rear triangle along with the curved downtube bears a striking resemblance to Willow, it isn't without precedent in their past.

That one isn't so similar, but add in the curved downtube and rear curved chainstays (and damn that tank looks scarily similar too) one has to wonder....But hey, a bike is a bike is a bike. I think the problem I have with it is that it's going into production. That kinda makes it a little more lame to me....

Blatant rip off aside, what about every other car made after the first car?

Could you file a patent for the frame design?

You can, but it's a principle sorta thing. Trendsetters set trends and all ;-). Here's my circa 2009 bobber frame idea using my CB450 motor....

Only so many ways to build a bike frame. I will always heart Willow.

And on trend setters... Look at the down tube...

Not to upset anyone, but frames like that have been around and have been being built forever.

Thanks Joey. I think that was a stand up thing for him to do. After all it would be kinda hard to deny. I have a friend that does reverse engineering for unavailable parts and I don't think he could have gotten a more close match. They got it right.
I appreciate everyone calling him out. The changes to his frame were made just a few days ago. Personally I think the changes to his frame to get his MK6A and MK6 B Classic Board Track style frame is a major improvement. Looks so much better ;D

In any case if any of their customers want to see what a finished bike looks like
Willow will be at the Timonium Motorcycle Show in February.

Honestly though like Kiley said there are only so many ways you can build a bike frame. If you squint hard enough many bikes or frames will look the same. It goes to show it really is in the details. For me (as I'm sure with many of us) its all about those little details combined together that make up the big picture.
With that said I'd love to see some pictures of bikes that's been around forever that have the details of and look like Kiley's rendering. Personally that rendering makes me weak in the knees and not too many bikes do that for me.

Sometimes I think we're all about a 100 years late on being original, but it is those tiny flourishes like 10,000rpm twin engines, visions of what we see in that 70's standard turned racer/art and the "mine" factor that spins my crank. I don't knock the capitalist that turn an artform into production pieces because thats what drives our thinking to the next thing. Custom motorcycle evolution I guess? Hell, for all I know Troy's got a bunch a sand and molten alloy about to pour his own custom cases for the next bit of work. From what I've seen on this site, I don't think Sylvester Howard Roper's feelings would be hurt what so ever for any of our imitation. Time for another drink!
