Brothers as always your words are truly inspiring and I can not put in to words how much your encouragement always means to me. I never got in to this business to be famous, on tv, or in magazines, I simply enjoy returning antique and vintage motorcycles to their former glory and am truly blessed and honored to be provided the opportunity to work with Brother casi on this build to help create his vision, if she were to make it in to a magazine for others to enjoy I am sure it would be her honor and Brother casi definatley deserves it as he is a truly honorable gentleman.

Brother casi I did not know that you were making contact with Bridgestone, I would think that they would be very interested in one of their motorcycles!

I spent some time working on the engine and installed the rotary disc valve guides, rotary disc valves, rotary disc valve covers with intake manifolds, crankshaft collar, oil pump gear case, oil pump, and a new oil pump line today!

I have to admit that the Rotary Valve design on this bike really gets my blood boiling as I have never owned an engine with this style valves before.  :P

Keep up the great work Joe and I will keep digging on Bridgestone and other places to make sure this bike gets the attention it deserves!

Thank you again for your kind words Brothers, this has truly been a very enjoyable build!

Today I installed the clutch assembly as well as the pinion gear and the timing idler gear. The left side engine cover internals are complete and as soon as I receive a couple small pieces of hardware such as the generator o-ring, etc. I will be able to complete the right side engine cover internals as well!

Thank you Brother! To be honest I really thought I would have had her completed by now however she will be ready very soon!

Today I started blasting the cylinder heads so that they will have the same natural finish as the cylinders, I am still working on them however this is how the head for the left side looks so far.

We are going to blast the inner side covers of the engine to give them a nice natural finish and polish the outer side covers so I also started blasting this cover for the left side of the engine.

They are coming right along... as for the bad head with all the pitting I was able to score a used one so you should have it in the next few days. Sorry you had to clean up a head that we wont be using. I guess the metal from the early 70's was good but not when left in New England weather for 30 years untouched!

Joe what sort of media are you blasting with?

I was thinking of getting my Cucciolo wet blasted like I did with my 450 head and barrels but I think it will look too "new" that way. I'm now thinking of just cleaning, but maybe some form of blasting like that would be more appropriate? Maybe soda blasting or crushed walnut shells or something...

Brother I use a lot of different materials for blasting and it really just depends on the part that I am working with or the finish that I would like when deciding on what would work the best, if you would like to just clean your parts without removing material I would recommend the walnut with low air pressure as it gently cleans very nicely without giving the parts a blasted look and leaves a very nice authentic looking patina.

This photo shows the bottom of the Bridgestones engine case which I blasted with walnut shells and low air pressure, as I mentioned it very gently cleans and leaves a very nice patina without removing material however it does not remove stains or give an even color like glass, sand, etc. does so it really depends on the look that you would like.

I think that your Ducati engine would look absolutely beautiful if you very lightly blasted it with the walnut and left a really nice antique look on the parts!

Thanks Joe! That finish looks like it would suit really well actually, so that might be the way to go.

I found a place here in Aus that sells 20kg bags of shells for $24 (finely crushed) which should do the trick I'd imagine as it's only a small engine. I'll have to get a gun for the compressor but cheapies are available for about $30 locally which should do the job.

I can make a little cabinet easily enough too.

Thanks again mate, much appreciated :)

You are very welcome Brother and thank you for sharing your Ducati build with us, I use a basic gun for blasting and it works great so I think you will be happy with one as well.

I was able to spend some time working on the Bridgestone this afternoon and got some good work done on a couple pieces for her, the new o-ring for the generator came in so it was one of the parts I worked on today. I cleaned the generator and installed the new o-ring, the casing on the wiring was brittle so I also removed it and installed new heat shrink over the wires to protect them. I still need to seal around the wiring where it goes through the housing however this is how the generator looks this evening.
