It is just the standard rear rim, but I put a 150/50 Harley rear tyre on it.
It just fitts between the swingarm

not a stupid question i hope.. but will the tyre not touch the fencer/rear frame? youre running stiffer shocks rights..

"the shocks are replacements, with a shorter stroke, same spring.
but adjusted stiffer due to shorter length.
rear frame has been shortened also, so no problem with tyre clearance.
the seat was molded with a concave to allow the tyre to pass above the frame, only at extreme compression."

thanks old chap.. i'm going for a similar look (moving house so work on the bike has taken a back seat).

also check out

"la corona motorcycles" for a great sr250 completed in 10 days!  they are local to be (barcelona) as are "cafe racer dreams."

Ok ill have to wait for a few tools to arrive.. found a guy who is doing a SR250 rebuild and his plans for the engine.

Here are his points:

Step 4:
Split the case, gut the contents. Bring the crank to your local machine shop (unless you happen to have a 40T press). Have the bearing, cam gear and pin removed. We are going to replace the bottom bearing, polish the crank and rod. Remove all the bearings, for replacement, and thoroughly clean everything. We're talking assembly line clean.

Step 5:
Hammer out your stem races and the triple tree races, you won't need those old and busted ball bearings anymore, we're going to upgrade to sealed.

--------

While i have the case apart might as well go all out. Project needs more funds so wont be doing much till the 1st of April.

dude.. the steps listed above seem great.. whats the source? i'm starting my sr250 1981 this winter and need to get ahead of the game! many thanks

hey there.

Im in NZ too and am rebuilding one of theese bikes as well. I was wondering if you coild tell me the type of air filter you have put on? (or a trademe listing number)

and am curious to see how your bike runs with it on. i cleaned the oil out of my original air filter, and my bike ran fine...UNTILL i put it into 2nd gear, it wass hopping and skipping and died in under 30 second, too much air. Put the oil back in the foam, and it ran sweet.

does your air filter have oil on it? I really want to get rid of the original air box and have something lighter and smaller for looks. please message me or post on my forum page.
