Just stumbled upon this thread. Fantastic job so far. I too, am a fan of Squirleys 550, which I see you have been inspired by. Honestly, I like the olive green only because I am a fan of British Racing Green which I believe is similiar to olive green you have here. As far as the front fender goes; scrap it. It looks out of place with the mix of modern parts that you have already installed.. Just my opinion really.

Thank you for the kind words. Ha the reason I want the olive is because I love British Racing Green too, but I wanted something a bit "dirtier", for lack of a better term. And yea, I'm definitely scrapping the fender.

Cheers.

There was a link floating around that showed someone making a fiberglass fender using their existing fender as sort of a "plug".. basically they covered their metal fender with masking tape of plastic wrap and fiber-glassed on top of that. Then once you have the right curvature, you can always cut it down and modify it as you like. Maybe someone can help me out here. Just a thought really..

hmm... i'll have to see if I can track that down. would definitely be helpful.

if there is going to be one at all, i want it small and simple - paint it satin black to blend in with the tire.

like this...

STARTUP VIDEO

this is the first firing up since the project started last summer. carbs aren't dialed in, but you can get a feel for the exhaust sound.

enjoy.
