Mods n Rockers Toronto This August
« on: Mar 29, 2012, 20:33:05 »
Back for year five, the event keeps getting bigger. This year:

Friday Night bash & kick off @ the Black Dice, 8pm
Saturday morning pre-ride meet up @ the Bristol Yard, 11:30am
Saturday's main event this year will be held at The Duke on Queen (Queen/Leslie), arriving point of the crosstown ride 2pm

We're setting up a large show space in the Duke's parking lot, plenty of prizes, bands, burlesque and food. $25 gets you an all weekend pass ($5 Friday only admission)

Anyone from Pitt want to ride up with me if I can make it?

Sounds like it'll be even better than last year.  See you there.

I'm confused.  The website says its at the Duke, but gives the address for the Dominion!

The Dominion was last year.  In any case you want to be part of the ride.

I had a great time the last two years, and I was at the mods and rockers ride before that. If I can make one suggestion. I'm  a big fan of the Dice (its a short stumble from my house) but it is very small. Last couple of years it plays out that the inside is packed with about 30  people who are lucky enough to get a drink and can listen to music, and all the rest who show up mill around outside until they get bored and leave.  I think you could improve that night  by inviting someone like the  Ron Hayward Trio to busk outside    . You can see them at the Intersteer thursday nights. And why not invite a food truck to park outside? Zane Caplansky of Caplansky's Diner on College has  a bike and is  cafe fan.  I know him and I think its worth a shot asking him if he would bring his truck by.

Toronto is full of hipsters, that post seemed tame in comparison :P  But Caplansky's food truck is some mean shit, I +1 that suggestion!  I don't think Tim at Black Dice is selling much food that night, right?  Would it hit his sales at all (or does he even care)?

If you mean this Tim, I don't sell anything at Black Dice :)  Bar belongs to a friend of mine, Hideki (Hide).

Oops, you're right.  I mixed him up with your name.  Sorry about that!

other bands that I think might busk outside:
the Villanos used to play the Dice regularly and dont need AC, and Catl are a good time.

I'll mention the event to Zane. The Dice really doesnt shift food so wont hurt their bottom line.
