APRIL 2012 DO THE TON BIKE OF THE MONTH - WINNER!

If I've messed up the nominations let me know.
Nominees - if you want me to change the picture of your bike just shoot me a PM with the link to the one you want me to use.
The idea is simple - use this thread to post up info and pics of your bike - voters feel free to work to convince others that your choice is tops. NO negative ads here, this isn't an election. Tell everyone why you like the bike you chose, not why you don't like a different bike or why you think it's 'better'. At the end of the day this is about having an awesome banner for the site and paying tribute to a bike that exemplifies the spirit of DTT and ultimately that you just plain like.

Well my build started out like many on this site. She didn't run, no title, and had been sitting forever. I was lucky though as it had always been stored inside. No rust hardly anywhere. It took me about a year and a half to get her to where I liked it enough to call complete. The 77-78 CB750 F Comstar rims never worked for me so I fitted spokes. Here are the stats on my finished CB.
1978 CB750 F3
Wiseco 836 piston kit
Mild porting by Cycle X
Cycle X F2 valve train
WEBCAM 41A
Heavy Duty Cam Chain
APE heavy duty cylinder studs
APE cam sprocket
New Honda cam guides, primary chains, and tensioner
Marshall external Oil Pressure gauge
Keihin CR29 carbs
Dyna 2000 ignition
Dyna Coils
Yuasa Battery
Genuine Dresda Boxed Swingarm with VFR axle
IKON shocks
Progressive Fork Springs
1975 GL 1000 front end
Norman Hyde Bars
1975 CB750 F0 rear hub
Joker rearsets
Rearset brackets machined by FunJimmy
Joker Clutch cover
Frankenbike Points cover
Stainless Steel Bucanon Spokes
Gloss black powdercoat on EVERYTHING
Stainless brake pistons
Billet GL1000 preload adjusters
Billet front master cylinder cap
Brembo Rear master
Stainless Bolts on just about everything

My vote is in... I had to go the GR Rich, been waiting for it to be up for voting for ages, so the time is now to give it the big thumbs up
Yeah I know I can vote for my own but I think the GR is better...
Oh, and I have to give my compliments to the other guys... schlumpf that is an awesome rear end! And BrandEN, that thing is just plain sweet, quality work and attention to detail. Boobby... that RD is something else too, gotta love a small displacement smoker...

And it's time for me to toot my own horn, but I promise not to bleat on too much...
This is my second ever bike bought in about '98 when I had no cash and no job and got me out of trouble with transport. Took if off the road in 2002 due to needing a car and having no funds for maintenance.
Fast forward to about March 2010 and I really got serious and stuck into it. I'd torn it down and did a complete ground up rebuild.
This was my first ever rebuild of anything, all I'd done previously was change oil, gap spark plugs, etc. so it was a fun challenge I got stuck into.
Anyway, got her registered and back on the road December last year and she's now my daily rider, so getting good pic's of her when she's clean and shiny is hard as she gets ridden every day no matter the weather.
Here's the list of cool stuff, from front to back:
Pirelli Scorpion Trail
Ikon progressive fork springs
Braided steel brake line
Some random fork gaitors the local dealer had in stock that fit perfectly
Generic dirt bike front guard cut to suit
Hand made fork brace/guard mount
Generic 7" chrome H4 headlight
Chrome mesh 7" headlight grill
Hand made fly screen
Bike IT Medium rise motorcross bars
Bike IT Venom hand guards
Cheapy chrome mirrors off eBay
Custom 2 into 1 ceramic coated exhaust by a local exhaust place Tranzac (awesome job!!!)
K&N pods
Electrics relocated under seat
Dynatek DS3-3C electronic ignition
Hand formed foam padding for the seat, got the local upholsterer to do the cover though
Ikon shocks
Hand made tail piece with a tool tray inside
Tail light off a CB360
Front guard from a Kawasaki GTR1000 cut to suit
Pirelli Scorpion MT90 A/T
Frame, swingarm, fork lowers, wheels, grab rail all painted in POR 15 Blackcote
Paint job done in a de Beer two pack and it's a Honda pearl red with white stripes and black two pack on the rear guard
Head and cylinders wet blasted by Specialised Blasting at
www.wetblasting.net
, good job
Crank cases and valve and breather cover painted with POR 15 Black Velvet
I'm still doing some little odds and ends and since these pic's she now has an Acewell 2853, a cover over the battery, and I'm working on a better bracket for the Acewell so I can put the stock gear position indicator back on and add a voltage monitor.
So here's the current best crop of pic's... sorry but I'm crap at photography and the digital camera I use the most is ancient:
And I think it's only fair to the guys at Tranzac to put some focussed exhaust pic's here because the pipe is awesome and sounds as good as it looks and this pipe really makes the bike:

so i figured i should talk a little about the build..
well first, i picked the this rd125 at the barber vintage festival for $250 bucks and pushed it a mile back to the car with a locked up front brake. i wasn't going to go as crazy as i did when i originally started the build but per the usual i decided to spend about 40 more hours than intended and a bunch more money.
The tank was originally a yamaha 80 tank that i extended using sheet metal and is usable with gas til about 4 inches from the end where the battery and electronics are housed. with the frame i took all the un-needed tabs and brackets off and added the trellis rearsets and high rear loop to fit the tail section and gave plenty of clearance. the wheels i wasn't originally going to change (just clean up), but i found the excel hoops and R5 front hub and couldn't not build them up.
As for the motor, i beefed up the clutch, cleaned up the top end and cylinders, got rid of casting marks on exhaust, modded reed blocks to fit ds7 mikuni 28mm carbs, and made sure eveything was working properly. To help the motor breath on the exit, i took some french expansion chambers and hacked them up, added spring mounted header that tuck closer to the motor, and build serviceable expansion chamber that fit a bit closer to the swing arm.
The front body work was build by airtech and the windscreen is from gustaverson. the seat is one of my "costello" tail sections.
here are some build pics

Did Rich bore out his bike? I thought it was a 650, but I haven't been paying the best attention lately...
