Cb360t bulb problems
CaptainSaveAHo:
So, I've searched and can't find anything about anybody burning out front signal bulbs. I figured this would be the place to ask. I'm tired of replacing my front signal bulbs after a week of riding to work. Is it the vibration we all know and love from the CB?
Once I replace them (with bulb grease) the first thing to go is the filament that runs all of the time, a couple days later the blinker filaments will go. Its only the front signals, the backs were changed last season. I'm trying to keep as much of this bike stock as possible, but if I can find a justifiable remedy like some LED bulb that blinks---great. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Redbird:
Not sure why exactly they're burning out so fast. But I do know that on my CB750K, the front bulb sockets are wrapped in a rubber "sleeve" inside the fixture. Oddly, the rears are not. Are yours the same?
There are dual intensity (1157 style) LED bulbs that will fit right into the OEM socket. www.superbrightleds.com carries them, and I've had great experiences with them. Steer clear of the cheap chinese LED's typically found on ebay. They won't hold up to the vibration on a motorcyle. I cheaped out and tried them on my Hayabusa. Didn't last a month before they fell apart. Went with the superbrightleds.com units and never messed with them again.
EDIT: Keep in mind though, if you swap to LED bulbs, you should change your flasher relay as well. Otherwise you'll get a "rapid flash" situation, or possibly no flash at all.
CaptainSaveAHo:
Well, I haven't checked out any wiring schematics, but while in the headlight, blue goes to blue and orange goes to orange blah de blah de blah. That being said, 1157's are set up backwards compared to the 1154's that were in it when I bought it. An 1157 burns the bright filament and blinks the low filament, those things last one night. Plus, they're bright as shit while riding, its annoying. There are rubber boots around each front socket.
Here's the big question for my purposes, will the superbrights blink like I need? If so, problem solved?
Edit- so what kind of relay would I need?
Redbird:
Ok, I'm not familiar enough with that bike. I've never heard of an 1154 bulb before now. Might want to wait for somebody who is familiar before making a decision.
But, that sounds odd to me. The 1157's should be burning the low side and flashing the high side. The superbrights may not work for you as they would be set up like an 1157 bulb.
CaptainSaveAHo:
I could always re-wire in the headlight to accommodate the 1157 bulb setup, allowing to run the 1157 led....possible, yes? Thanks for the input!
