Guernz has a problem. He can't stay focused on one project and then starts another one. Alot of projects on the back burner-big stove. So this is the start to another project. I am know old enough to race the senior class at the local short track. So why not build a new bike for that class, also legal for the vintage class. I have a bunch of engines in the shed to choose from- Can-am 250 two stroke,Can-am 500 two stroke,Can-am 500 four stroke(rotax baby),Yammie DT 250, and a Yammie SR 500. Right now I'm leaning towards the SR. I just turned the neck down, neck cups are next. Here is the start of another slow build but thats the way I like them.

I'm going for the traditional Champion framed and glassed dirt tracker along the lines of this bike.I have a Husky 510 in a champion frame already but I am building this one just for hell of it.

If this frame turns out as good as its pictured in my head, a project like this is next.

I have a Champion frame. Still need to decide what motor I can get that will fit.

Yours looks like its in pretty good shape. When I was a teenager, my dad took a husky 250 frame cradle and welded in to a Champion frame that probably had five different engines butchered into it through the years. We bolted my Husky 510 fourstroke into it. It turned out really good. From the pic, your frame looks to good to cut. Are you going to flat track it?

Well I'm planning to build a street tracker but I may be limited in motor choice. The frame can only hold a motor up to 16" tall. The previous owner had a YZ250 in it so it may have been built for a short 2-stroke. I'm hoping a TT500 or XR500 motor can fit.

Last night I went to the vintage dirt track races at Square Deal Raceway in NY and got to see Scotty Parker run about 10 laps on the Champion framed Harley MX250 that he won his first short track national on. He almost flipped over backwards on the front stretch. It was a good time. I'm going back tonight-double header. Maybe I'll get some pics. It's giving me some motivation to get this project rolling.

Got my neck cups made today. Turned out really nice. One piece at a time.
I think I'm going to use my Can-Am 500 MX 2-stroke engine. I read about it a little the other day and it sounds like the power curve will be pretty decent for short track. And everybody is running fourstrokes. My engine is in pieces right now. This is a pic of the engine I downloaded. It's going to be crazy in a little 220 pound short tracker.
