Best type of lifting stand?
« on: Jul 24, 2012, 20:04:09 »
Started taking the bike apart but got into diffs pretty quickly due to not having a proper stand to get it off the ground.

So, I'm looking for a stand to help me lift my project up so I can work on it more easily.

The small type rather than the table sort is preferred as space is limited.

Should I be looking at hydraulic lift stands or manual foot stands? Any advice much appreciated.

Would something like this be a good job? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorbike-Hydraulic-Scissor-136kg-300lbs/dp/B0047ZVN8W/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp

Thanks all

It really matters what type of bike you are pulling apart. I just finished a tear down of my 75 XL250 I used a combination og a milk creat and two jack stands not very efficient but useable.

Hi, it's a CB200...? Maybe the type I linked to is unsuitable, not sure?

Usually rear paddock and front headlight stands are good.  If you doing a complete tear down including removal of the swingarm and forks then you will need some sort of stand support under the center of the bike.
