Hi guys

I'm brand new to this site been looking at cafes for a few months now and now i'm looking at buying one.

Found this nice cb650 1981 and only 20k. Apparently still running very nice. 800$

I'd like to know what you guys think. If it's the right bike to start with or maybe I should get cb750 or cx500 or something else?

I have read a lot of people write how it is difficult to cafe a "custom" version of a CB. I have a CB750 custom, and the biggest downfall I think from it is that the section of the frame holding the seat isn't flat, it dips down. So making a seat will be annoying and a dit more difficult. If you were planning on buying one, chances are it won't fit because of that dip. BUT, maybe you have more resources. I'm a student living in an apartment, so I don't have many tools to use and I certainly can't modify the frame myself.

Here are some photos though of a cafed "custom"

If a cafe racer is where you want to end up, that isn't the best place to start for a number of reason.  If you want a bike to ride and that one runs and has all the appropriate papers, buy it, service it and ride it
