iPhone speedometer

(1/4) > >>

SONICJK:
I've been riding my bike a lot and determined that I hate the stock speedo. It's inaccurate, it's jumpy and it's ugly.

So I started looking at electronic units but they are pricey. And then I realized my iPhone can do that.

I bought some 16ga steel and went to town.
Bent up a three sided box for the phone to sit in
Then I welded some bolts onto the back to mount it to the top triple.

Rounded the corners, and hit it with some black.

Added some industrial Velcro and had an iPhone mount

I'll get a pic of it mounted as soon as my camera charges.
Sadly the only camera I use is my phone.

Pics shortly

What do you guys think?

Dannodarko:
Awesome!

rock2d2:
SLICK!!!  What app are you using for the display?

Going to add a charger?

Kanticoy:
I do the same with my DROID RAZR. I use UlysseSpeed. Has a compass as well. I like your mount, i need to do something similar, i have no speedo on Gretta.
