Project Rapido XS650 - Build Thread
« on: Feb 17, 2013, 20:35:59 »
Official build thread for my new project.
Started off as a sketch and decided to make this shit happen!

The foundation of the build will be built around a Harley Rapido tank. The frame used is an xs650 special  which will have a single downtube from the neck. The Hardtail will be a David Bird looped 0" stretch and 2" drop. It'll be a stubby little bike.

The blueprint (Sketch)

The Frame ready for a HARD on :)

The Tank: Harley Rapido.

The bars  used. Not sure if I plan to mount them under or on top of the upper tree.

Rad. I'm following along.
Like a river that don't know where it's flowin'
I took a wrong turn and just kept goin'

From your sketch, it looks like you want to go with the David Bird hardtail. I'm definitely interested to hear how that process goes. Heard stories from both sides of the fence.

Yup pulled the trigger on a David Bird tail, 0" stretch 2" drop. I'll post pics of the process. Hope it comes in soon. Just collecting parts for the build.

Pretty cool man. I see from your other thread you're also building a "brat" XS at the same time. Busy busy busy... Haha

Haha yeah. Just stripped the brat build down and getting the frame and swingarm powder-coated :)

David Bird looped tail 0" stretch 2" drop ordered yesterday :)

Looking for a nacelle type headlight and fork covers right now to match.

Decided to reuse mid frame section for the mid controls. Similar to the Fong bros bikes. Section I'm talking about highlighted in red.
