how much HP did that triple offer at the time?  was it in the high 80 range since it was a two stroke?

I think it was more like mid 80's! Something like 83-85 HP. It came on like gang busters around 3500-4000 rpm. That made it 'feel' like more HP than it was! 'Eighty odd' HP was a lot back in the day!!  Shocked

i know it was...  i was fortunate to own a 79 CBX and if you could break 90hp with an air cooled engine you were cookin'!

Ya, my '77 KZ1000 made 83hp and was the quickest production machine that year.  Shocked

The H2c in '75 was rated at 71hp, so the low 70's sounds right! I stand corrected!  Grin
