Thanks MikeMaritime said:Those are Bling Redbird. sorry to hear he's going through something similar to what I did, hope he recovers to the best he can. I'll never run again but I walk without a cane now.
His age is definitely a plus as far as his prognosis for a full recovery is concerned. If I were to have sustained such a leg injury, they'd have just taken me behind the barn and shot me
Not that it's a contest (or ever should be), but I think he got you beat... fractured and dislocated hip, and severely dislocated knee. The Doc said he was roughly 6" shorter on his left leg than on the right. Spent 1.5 weeks in traction for the hip, then surgery to repair the fracture (two plates and seven screws), then three weeks of laying in bed while the hip healed enough to do PT. First knee surgery was done the day of the accident (to install an external fixater to locate everything where it was suppose to be), second knee surgery was about 3 weeks later to reattach the meniscus and clean up bone/tissue damage, next knee surgery will be in 2.5 months to hopefully repair everything else (ACL, PCL, and MCL (all completely separated)). If not, he's looking at a fourth knee surgery down the line.
It's been an "interesting" seven weeks so far... with more to come.
