Suzuki TS185 Left Turn Build
« on: Jun 20, 2016, 18:44:02 »
You read it right..
From what I can tell, no one has used this as a platform before, which is kind of fun.

The other day I picked this 2003 YZ85 for 200 smackaroos.

It needs a top and bottom end rebuild, but these engines are stupid easy (and cheap) to work on.

I originally was going to go for the mini supermoto type build, when I thought "how cool would it be to make a little street scrambler out of it"..
It also possesses the right frame back bone to make adapting a metal tank easier.

The game plan: rebuild the motor and get this sucker squared away mechanically

Wheels: replace the rear to a 17 to match the front, make it a 3.5" for some beef in the rear and throw street tires or mild knobbies on (may not be an option due to the already tight fit on the swing arm)

Find a tank that jives well with the size, then try and find the right stance.

That's all I have game plan wise for now, I can't do anything cosmetically until I figure out a tank anyways, and from there the rest follows.

Threw a huge cb750 tank on for shits

Maybe a xr100 tank would do the trick?

The tank mock up was just for fun, here's it with a dt175 tank on it that is much better

I got it that it was just for fun. That does look normal at least.  Man those are long front forks.

Snagged a tank from a Yamaha trail for 40 bucks.
Near perfect, two small dents..
May run it, may not.
It's different, but that's sort of what I want.

I also have the rim in, still need spokes.
It's a 17x3.5...
