Nighthawk cafe/rat/Bob/build
« on: Sep 07, 2016, 13:06:43 »
Picked up an 81 nighthawk 550 for my wife a few months back. She decided it was too much bike, so I decided to cut it up!

(No pics of original condition cuz I don't have enough vomit bags to pass around)

There she was after starting the tear down.

I'm currently designing the mono shock conversion, and beginning some of the sheet metal work (custom tank, fenders, and seat pan).
Saturday I hung the new bars and got dimensions for my tank.

My steel tube will be here this week so I can start the hoop for the swing arm and shock mounts.
Ill also get my seat cut out and put some shape in er on the E-wheel.

Well that's plenty of intro for this lil pig, more updates to come!

Intro for my other build to come also. 86 vfr interceptor turned brat!

That's an 83. Two year bike here in the states.

Got my suspension hoop bent and tacked up. Also got started on my rear fender. This week I'll be patterning out my tank and start shaping that!

I need to build a set of luver dies, kinda wanna try luvers on the fenders.

Suspension is done!

Didn't start the tank like I'd hoped. I'm still not sure what kinda shape I'm after. Soo...we're putting that on hold for a few. Now I'm working on my minimal subframe and fenders.

Any input on tank style would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Got some work done! Started my tank and made a mount for my shock Res.

I also accidentally made my new kickstands. I was just playing around with some hot rolled bar.
