Next, the problem child - how do i get this ?rusted? Stuck ring off the piston?
I've heated it up over my gas stove, and sprayed it down with penetrating oil immediately after in the hopes of getting oil behind that ring.
No dice.

Still polishing the crankcase, and thinking about rubbing it down with aluma-black to darkenit.
But have most of the major engine parts painted, so gently test stacked it to see how it looked together!

Ah, there's the rust. Seems to get in from the top and this is the low drain point in the frame. That'll have to go.
I've ordered new cylinder jugs, so the old jugs are auditioning as tool and pencil organizers - i think they'll be pretty cool for that use painted white.

Bottom end looking really quite clean- bearings very smooth as well- encouraging.
