Here's my 71 r60/5 daily driver. Has survived being t-boned by a full size cargo van and has taken me from Pennsylvania to Alabama and back no problem. In the background is Beatnik's 77 gs750.

I have these from the highway bars that were on an old "chopper". The mounting point is 5/8" wide. They are made of aluminum.

You want to leave the 3/16" of height for added strength. If you cut it all off and butt weld the frame halves the metal may tear.

That's what you want to do. Cut out 4 to 8 inch sections of the lip at a time to keep things from shifting and leaving about 3/16" of the lip height and then weld it up solid. And keep repeating til all the pichwelds are gone.

It kinda does. You can get the 450 front end to mount on a 350 with no modification however its not really a good idea. The 350 steering stem is longer than the 450 steering stem. So when you bolt on the 450 front end to a 350 frame there aren't really enough threads grabbed by the top nut to...
I think Tim is right. The r50/r60 cams are the same. The r75/r90 cams are the same. And I believe they all share the same size crankshaft.

Just sharing how I eliminated the bolt on swingarm/passenger footpeg mounting plate and replaced it with custom rearset mounting tabs and welded in place swingarm mount.
To make the swingarm mount I just cut the piece I needed from the old bolt on plate and welded it on.
