I had the same problem on my Suzuki and it was the kicker hanging as mentioned in the post previous to yours.

also you mentioned it uses the stock speedo drive is this in lieu of the magnetic sensor and reed switch?

I no longer need a licence plate mount I fabbed one out of 14g steel hope it works.

I'm looking for something close to stock size of 6 1/2" headlight but I'm sure a 7" will work just as good it has to be side mounted and a complete bucket with bulb.

I don't know if I'm biased by I would go with the Snap-on
especially if you have a Snap-on rep pretty close by if anything happens
you can bring it in and get it rebuilt or replaced.
I haven't had many snap on tools break but
the very few I have the snap on rep was very good at getting it all...
