Thanks crazypj. That would explain perfectly why me trying to regulate the levers had no effect whatsoever. I guess I'll have to give the drill/tap/jet thing a go because as the carbs work now the bike is insanely frustrating to start! I mean it always starts, but it's such a bitch of a routine...
Hi guys.
I've had my CB400N scrambler running on VM30's for about 3 years now and everything about the carbs is awesome. Great throttle response, smooth idle, NO off idle hesitation, pulls much harder through the low, mid and top end than the standard CV carbs (which never ran well on pods...
Hmmm... it's not the high idling that's the problem. It's that it jumps up high (to around 4000rpm) then after a few seconds starts to drop and then dies without me touching a thing. My theory is that it's because it's far too rich as with any other bike I've had with an actual and gradual...
I've had the rubber tubes on my VM30's for a few months now without any problem of deterioration. And that's with repeated removing of them from jetting the carbs too. The stock carb manifolds sit at the right angle to keep the carbs level which is why I kept them and the tubes haven't showed...
Hi guys.
Nearly have my tune perfect with the VM30's on my CB400N. However, one problem which I haven't found a solution for is the choke (I know, enricher).
The bike needs them on to start when dead cold, which is fine. However, when I flick them on and then start the bike, it will kick to...
Sweet. Was about to say that before I saw your reply.
I had the exact same issue and it was because my needle was running too rich. Raise the clip, lean it out, problem gone :)
Hey mate. Very very good job! The bike looks great. But are you going to put the side covers back on? I notice you've left the tabs on the frame and tank. At the moment it looks a little cluttered under there with the battery box sitting out in the open.
I've done one up as a cafe racer myself...
Did you ever get this tuned in? A google search for CB400t VM30 brings this result right to the top but you never got around to mentioning how the VM30's ran or what was involved. I'm sure myself and who knows how many other people have come to this thread and never found out what they were...
