I've cranked the bike up and ran it a few times to keep the gas fresh in the carb but have not done really anything else with it lately. I have had best luck utilizing a tig welder and a aluminum-bronze or silicon-bronze filler rod. These have a much lower heat temperature and don't require you to actually melt the base metal. Oddly enough, they also work better on A/C when working on mild steel instead of the typical D/C...

Re: Building my own two-stroke "Mongrel" - Inspired by CharlieT & TedT Yes it does. As long as your not leaning way over on that side, it's okay. You have to be a little careful on it, but it's not terribly bad. More likely to grt onto it standing up or when starting it.

I've only ridden it in the grass around the house so far trying to shake it down. I think that when it gets on the asphalt it'll be properly mad. There is a GP track not 15 miles from my house I've always wanted to take a 2 stroke to, so eventually I think I'll wind up there making a few laps...

This was one of my favorite bikes I ran across on dtt, it just seemed really pure and did a fantastic job of being a bike that took you places you could have fun with. The riding pics you posted with it were great. I hope the new owner enjoys it as well. I'd like to build something like that...

Hows everyone shakin'? Haven't done much on this beast in the last few months - but hope to pick it up again soon. Gotta rework some of the controls and start working on wiring. Believe I'm gonna go back to the original ATC250R electrical system instead of the CR250 for a bit heavier flywheel...

I just recently saw those! Another company here in the states are making a similar setup, also. It's kind of a funny, I have a friend in Australia that made a crazy aircooled 250r engine several years ago where he welded and machined it to move the cylinder from vertical position to horizontal...
