Somewhere on the existing footpeg hangers is going to be your best bet. The pillion peg holes might do if you're tall (although may interfere with the exhaust). Otherwise, I'd drill a new location somewhere along the hanger which is comfortable and allows the rearset-pedal to be depressed freely...

So I'm looking to get myself a set of rearsets for my CB650 cafe racer project. I don't like the standard footpeg hangers and I'd prefer it a little neater. Thing is, identifying suitable mounting brackets seems to be a little tricky for the 650 and I don't see what's wrong with just bolting new...
