Based on the part number, the GS1000G frame is identical to the GS850G for my bike year(81). Fast from the past only seems to have rearsets for GS1000 1978-1980 and GS1000S - USA Only. That confuses me because suzukiparts.com doesn't list a 1980 "GS1000" like it does for 78-79 but there is a...

I dont know if anyone is still watching this but here is the latest on my progress. Turn signals, tail light, licence plate bracket and lights all wired up and the wires tucked. Only need a seat pad and its good to go.

jaykim - could you elaborate on free/minimal effort was of getting the open triangle? That is something I would like to explore for my own GS build.

New bars, grips, mirrors(not in picture), turn signals and headlight bucket. Seat is not yet painted(obviously) or mounted. Still trying to figure out how to mount it. Been thinking about rearsets. I havnt found any elegant solutions so far. From what I understand, the GS850 frame is nearly the...

Thank you for all the advice. I like what you have done with your bike. Do you have more pictures of the exhaust and any info about where you got it?

That's a pretty good idea. I still don't think I can use these bars though because they wont let me turn the whole way. With a tank this big, I may have to go with a different style bar.

Thanks guys. Youre both very right. I do have quite a bit of shaping left to go. Admittedly I got a little excited the curve came out the way I had hoped and it didn't fall apart all together haha.

The beginning of my custom fiberglass seat. 3M adhesive and floral dry foam. I will likely shorten it to the same length as the frame. Final adjustments and sanding tomorrow. Then comes the fiberglass. Updates to come as I progress.

The dynojet stage 3 kit was a pretty straight forward installation. The bike started, no problem but I havnt had it on the road due to a lack of any working lights and old plugs and pads. Ill update when I get it out there.

Plans are to re-install the headlight, replace the turn signals with leds, find/make a cafe seat, mount that, probably going with clubman bars and rearsets. I read HerrDeacon's write up on his seat build and am very impressed. Got me thinking it's almost easy haha...

Cool stuff man. Very unique. The mesh side covers are pretty sweet. Haven't seen that before
