    The Buy It Now CB750

Some folks like to get em running and sorted out as "step one". Others like to tear it down first, and fix what's broken along the way. Does it matter? Nope, there's no cookbook to these builds. Whatever works for you is what's best. Glad this one will see the road again.

This 1981 BMW R100 will live to ride another day!

Since the engine was torn down by the PO, I would assume it needed a full rebuild. I would send those heads out to Randy Long and have them refurbished. A hotter cam, new lifters and pushrods, lighten the flywheel, and build it into the monster it can be. Yeah, it's a bit of dough, but do it...

Yep, that's an RT spider, a great starting point to mount the S fairing. Here's a link to a thread dealing with this exact issue. A few pics too: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=747394

That's an R90S bikini fairing. If you decide to run it, install it so it's FRAME mounted, don't mount it to the forks like BMW did, the result could be a violent head shake if you tend to 'do the ton'. You can start with an RT fairing spider mount and modify it to suit the 90S fairing. This is a...

    A cm400 and a youngster

Cool project. Before welding, clean the metals real good. Don't weld over paint. And turn up the heat on the welder, those welds look a bit cold.

Apply some heat to the bell coupler to expand it a wee bit/break the bond, then use a shop press to separate it from the tapered driveshaft.

Great project! I build cafe racers out nothing but BMW's, these bikes are easy to work on and customize, and they ride great when done up nicely. Here's my advice; unless you are going to restore this bike back to bone stock condition, don't powercoat the frame until you've mocked it all up and...

    1974 BMW R60/6 - Glamour pics added

Re: 1974 BMW R60/6 Nice work! The bike is looking great. I'm partial to BMW's as well. I have a 1975 BMW R60/6 cafe racer, so I'm keen to see your progress. Go man, go! If you feel adventurous, you can consider lightening your flywheel. This will unlock the performance of that 600cc engine...

    cutting down the front fender

I cut my fender, then welded on a small diameter rod around the perimeter. Just another option.

Hello from Westchester County, New York

Hi all, just found this site and figured I'd sign up. I love cafe bikes, I've built quite a number of them from airhead BMW's. Currently have 2 in the garage under construction. I also dig Honda's and have a '74 Rickman Honda CR750 in my stable. Anywho, I build and ride these bikes as a hobby...
