    started it today, idled and reved with a little bog, but still happy with an idle for now. how do you check that the oil pump is getting to the head? i remember reading on one thread about opening the tappet covers while its running but will it pump oil obviously or is it more subtle?

    Having already draining what old oil would come out i put in 1ltr of cheap clean 10w 40 to give heating it ago, i set up a small ceramic heating below the engine and boxing it in with tin foil, every now and then i would kick it over a few times with the spark plug out to mix it up. 1-2 hours...

    Yeah on that note are you use the original level? or one if no end cap, to allow to sit on the shaft a little more comfortably. i could find a good pic in your thread which had a close up.

    also that RHS side cover i was hoping to salvage is completely stuffed, worse then mine. but the upside is i have a motor to tear into and get familiar with before i tear down the runner.

    yeah well the original kicker isnt even fully gone yet, so i know itll be okay if i were to make one good out of two. with my welding ability i feel like id rather it be holding the springs weight in place rather the whole force of a kick. however, and older mate of mine is great at welding...

    Good news! won this bottom end on ebay with a good kickstarter shaft for 50$ shipping from melbourne to syd only $30 $80 bucks in total and can salvage its good RHS sidecover for my bad one then sell of some bits.
