I slacked on taking any pictures of the pistons, but the engine is all back together and happy. I have yet to put any miles on it but it fired right up last night, and it's smoke free. now I guess it's time to stop watching tv and go put my rear sets back on and go for a little ride and seat...
I finally shipped the pistons off last week. Decided to get the skirt coating and the crown coating, the crown coating was only like $12 or $20 more so I opted for it.
Getting hitched in a few weeks so the engine will get back together late in October or early November.
Cylinders are still in spec, well at least the bottoms are, the tops are a little loose but I don't think they are too loose. I'll be sending the Pistons out to swain tech for a piston skirt coating. Take up .002" and snug the Pistons in there a tad. If I have to I'll buy oversize rings and file...
Tore the top end off last night. Bike was just smoking so bad and sputtering and all that. I pulled the rings off pistons put them in the cylinders and measured the gap. They were massive, way beyond the maximum limit listed in the book. So taking the cylinders and pistons to the machine shop...
Yeah I've been looking on eBay for about a week.
I'm thinking about trying to get a set of total seal gapless rings and maybe do an anti friction coating on the piston skirts.

I feel like the 900cc kit is too big for the 750 though. I thought I remembered reading that only the 850 could be taken out to 900cc.
If I can take the 750 out that big though without trashing my cylinders I'm all for it because it is super cheap.
I wonder if I can contact them and get their...
Is there anyone out there that has a source for buying one of these big bore kits? I want to do the top end on my bike and instead of just re-ringing it I want to open it up a bit.
I've already e-mail the steve lloyd guy and haven't heard back from him all week
Thanks
Any trick fuse box's anyone has experience with? I'm really not happy with all the wiring mess. I wanted it all to be very clean, but I feel like a made a bit of a mess on some things.
Going to re-do the wiring with a cleaner fuse box and smaller connectors. I previously bought some that have...
I have no idea it it's an asymmetrical frame or not. that's a thing with the CB550's?
I'll have to take a look at my other frame that's in storage and see if it's the same.
That's not legal, I'd never be able to get this thing registered if I attempted to do that. Not to mention the head tube has the vin stamped into it.
On to the pictures.
Here's a piece of square bar to better show the difference in the two tubes
Picked up a bike from a friend, the original frame has a bent down tube. Can this thing be fixed and should it be? I was thinking a torch to heat up the metal and to anchor the frame and use a chain and some kind of hydralic press or puller to straighten it out. Or just take it to a shop to have...
Talked to my buddy today about my poor compression also the machine shop.
Machine shop is a little baffled on my oil consumption, they are interested in leak down test results. They also told me there wasn't a parts charge for valve seals, but there's no way they would disassemble the head and...
Got the hoop done today and got the seat roughed in
The seat has more of a point in the tip and the hoop is really round, not too sure how much I like that.
