With good equipment ,safety precautions and excellent aim, clean-up is not required.

For $400 it's worth it just for the experience i'd get from taking them apart. i think i'm gonna get them and take it all apart, clean, blast, lube and assemble. Thank you gentlemen for your input, i'll keep you posted with the progress and start a thread for the build.

Thank you for all your help, the issue has been resolved. I put a screwdriver over the leads on the relay and then pushed the start button and it turned over, eliminating the start button as the problem and finding the starter relay was bad. i also tested it against the battery to check for the...

So with the bypass, if it shorts out and i'm on the ground shaking uncontrollably, we can assume the relay is bad and needs changing. If nothing happens and/or the bike starts up i'll take apart the switch and maybe that will fix the problem. i shall do as instructed and report my findings...

Is this with battery hooked up? No battery? While attempting to start it? Or take the starter relay off the bike and do it like that? Or should i try them all and see what happens? :) It can't get worse than not working, unless it burst into a big ball of fire.

If i use the starter motor it will not turn over, it will no do anything, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. There is no clicking sound from the starter relay, the engine doesn't move no matter how hard and fast i press that button. No spark, either. But it works with a push.
