Too late now, but I wanted to show you a welded case like I promised earlier. the case had broken in a u-ish shape. There is a bit of oil below that somehow got on after the case was back together LOL. But it never leaked and worked great. It was actually welded from the inside BTW.

Metal paste, solder, or anything else you mentioned is a bond. Welding is the joining back together of the parent metals, and is metal as well.

Take picture. I have welded up cases before no problem. But it the other stuff you are asking about probably won't work in stress area i am afraid. I will post pics of a case I have welded up in the past if you need. But it can be done by good welder, no problem.

You got a paint code for that- you think they make something close in powder coating?

I have a 73 GT 750 smoker, complete, but completely in baskets- a true basket case. And squirrels nest sharing the space in the baskets. I have decided In am going to pop for the TR 750 frame, swing arm and tank, and go from there! Beautiful Smoker, absolutely stunning. Inspires me for certain!
