    1972 SL175 Ridestoration

Tires installed! This thing is a hoot around town! Need to sort out the front brakes... They don't do much :O

    SL175 Suspension

Hey all, Rebuilding ish an SL175 for forest road use while on camping/overland trips. Understanding it'll never be a modern dirt bike... Would love to upgrade the suspension a bit (while keeping a stockish appearance). Forks: None of the interchange info I can find covers the SL175. Anyone...

    1972 SL175 Ridestoration

Hey all, Started a CB100 scrambler build here a year ago... Life happened (fixed up a 1966 Mustang for the Gambler 500 Photos https://photos.app.goo.gl/MUYfPqZ6Nx3QimDe9, got a dog, etc etc). But! I want a trail bike for camping trips this summer, so work on the SL175 has started! Here it is...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

eBay. Australian company, user "backstreetmc". IIRC it was ~$60 shipped for two sets (the other will be going on my SL175 when I add some tiny turn signals to it).

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Not a lot of progress in the last week... But got the first print of the intake done. Need to tweak things a bit to get the fitment just right, but overall I think it'll work well. Also sorted out the wiring for the turn signal and horn switches... Main what a pain to get those connected and...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Thanks! I'm pretty motivated to get it done so I can get the Sl175 ready to hit some trails this summer. I'll probably start a thread on it soon. And yeah. I love the Desert Sled!

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Thanks for the tip on cutting the grips - that's a great idea to use cheese line / fishing wire! And you're right, I might end up doing that, just started with cutting the least amount of material, can always cut more :). Thanks for the kind words, all! Hoping to get this thing done so I can...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Small progress, was out on a road trip through Oregon/Nevada/Utah/Arizona/New Mexico for the girlfriend's birthday. Carb was... a bit dirty: Cleaned it up, new gasket, new drain screw, new float/pin: Trimmed up the grips to go around the nifty little switches I found: Hoping to get it...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Yeah, it definitely needs a bit more angle to look right. I should be able to move it down about an inch/angle back another 10deg. I'll give that a shot. What do people do to vibration damp these things? The mount is just bent aluminum so it's got a bit of spring to it. Thinking I can use some...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Those look great! Thanks! Got the horn/turn signal switches mounted: And playing around with ideas to mount the speedometer. The cross bar on makes locating it where it'll be visible by my 5'5" girlfriend a bit tricky:

Thanks! I'd guess the top nut just gets tightened enough then to keep it from coming apart, didn't see a torque spec for it. If intake length really is the important bit, I think I'll buy a smaller pod and print a shield/intake for it to have something a bit less visually large.

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

What's the process for tightening the head bearings on these bikes? The service manual I have is pretty quiet on it - only mentioning the top nut being tight enough that you don't feel slop in the forks but not so tight that the bars won't easily move. What about the nut under the top of the...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Does the area of the filter not make a big difference as well? If not, I'll probably find something a bit smaller and still print the correct length intake runner. Got a bit of work done on the bike this weekend... Bent up a little battery / electronics tray: Anyone have a good...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Air cleaner showed up. Off a 1980s Shadow 750. A little bigger than I thought it'd be... Anyway, the plan is to 3D print an intake. Thinking either perpendicular to the bike or possibly have it swing all the way around the frame and aim forwards on the left side (a little higher than the image...

    CB100 Scrambler Beginner Bike Build

Thanks! I've had 3 SVOs since I was about 15. Surprises a lot of people to see a turbo intercooled 4 cylinder under the hood!
