    My little Yamaha

Well I got the xs down off the table since I'm currently remodeling my shop. It's nice to see it on the ground since I can see what I like and don't like. There will be some changes to get it right yet but it's getting there.

    1980 kz440 ltd bobber-cafe brat

Welcome here! (I'll just pretend I didn't just read everything I just read) Sounds like you got a deal on a runner and was able to ride through the summer. What's your plans now? If your struts are 10.5" maybe you could try a set of rebel shocks to give you suspension at your current ride height.

    My little Yamaha

I got back in the shed and managed to get a little done on the xs. I mounted the coil. Mocked up the horseshoe style electrical compartment.

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

    1. It's got independent vacuum carbs with a 1-2 throttle cable which is a giant pain. 2. I've been wanting to do a single carbed twin for a while now and this is a perfect candidate. 3. I'm building this for my little brother as his first bike and a trouble free single carb seems like a good...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

Thanks for the compliments guys. I don't have any real good pics of the drop down box that houses the switches and battery but you can kind of see it in these two. I'm mostly concerned about the sizing of the carb, although I know it can be tuned in even if it's not sized exactly right...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

I want to swap over to a single carb on this bike. I've been looking at the Mikuni VM carbs and am thinking a 38 would be good, but I'm not sure. What's the opinion?

    Brat seat cover help!

You could try this if you're worried about waterproof: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=190726051034&globalID=EBAY-US That would work well if you're just going to round the edges and attach it on the bottom. However, if you're doing a sewn cover with seems around the...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

I got it mostly wired, I still have to mount the components and wire the reg/rec, but it's wired to run.

Yes I've checked for clearance. We're good to go.

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

I drew up a wiring diagram. I'm using a UT4L battery (kickstart only), 150cc scooter reg/rec, 6 gang fuse block, and two SPDT relays (one for main power switching and one for the headlight hi/lo allowing the use of a SPST toggle). The cb450 uses a 2 phase permanent magnet alternator, so if the...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

It's one for a dohc cb750. I also have one for an xs650.. The rectifier is basically just three diodes though so if I connected the three wires separately it would basically do the same as connecting the two before since it will be inside the rectifier just running through an additional diode...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

So if I follow correctly, I'd tie the yellow and white wires together coming from the alternator and connect that to a yellow on my reg/rec (all of the rectifier wires on my unit are yellow) and connect the pink to another yellow and I should be good? Or should I connect the pink, yellow, and...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

Thanks man! I still feel kinda like I bumble around... I credit most of my success to the bikes that I get, the 750 just had that look going already and this bike just got lucky with that tank.

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

This bike had simplified, or cut down, wiring when I got it, but it was still running the stock regulator and rectifier units. I want to upgrade to a regulator/rectifier unit and build a new wiring harness based around a fuse block and SPDT relays. So... I studied the wiring on the bike and...

    CB450-From Chobbler to Tracker

Re: CB450-Rescued from Chobbler Monster I got the tank mounted. I used the standard rubber snubbers in the front, but had to make new mounting points for them. In the back I used a block of closed cell neoprene.
