    73 Cl175 K7 will not idle

Thanks for the replies. Interestingly today I decided to do a compression test. I am getting 45PSI on each side! This is crazy low. Is it even possible for a bike to run at this low of compression? As I said before, I can get it to run but it does die below 2k roms. The tester I am using is a...

    73 Cl175 K7 will not idle

How do you suggest I clear those holes out? I did spray carb cleaner through the pilot jet end and I saw it spray out through those holes. I assumed that would do the trick, I guess it needs further investigation.

    73 Cl175 K7 will not idle

I have a 73 CL175 K7 that will not idle. Here is what I have already addressed: points timing is spot on, all potential vacuum leak areas have been sealed on the carbs, carbs have been synced, idle circuits on both carbs are clean with compressed air three times, slides are completely bottomed...

Yeah I was curious as to where he sent it to get rebuilt or if he did the work himself or just replaced the crank with a new one. Im not sure I catch your last sentence. Are you saying you are in the same spot?

Thanks Clem, what process did you take in restoring your crank? Did you rebuild it completely? Did you simply replace it all together?

Ok, update, here is what I am looking at. Thoughts? Things is, everything moves very smooth and transmission gears look spotless. All of that rust residue wiped rightout of the bottom the case ??? The other bummer thing is, i cant get my shifter rod all the way out because its bent at the end...

Ok removed clutch basket and now I am at a standstill trying to remove this clutch boss and 1 1/8" nut behind the basket. Whats your best shot at removing this without a "special" tool that appears to be required?

I do certainly appreciate any mathematical or engineering aspects you would like to share. I am a gearhead, my favorite books have always been how to's and manuals. When I was a child I would ask my father how all of these things work (he is an absolute gearhead) and he would tell me if I wanted...

I work for the postal service so I have few windows of time so sometimes its tough not take shortcuts...

A copy of that manual would be fantastic! I would greatly appreciate it, how can you get it my way? My buddy suggested checking the play, rods and bearings as well, if all is well, close her back up. Yes, I believe rebuilding would be best, my son and I are doing this project together. He is 13...
