Re: CB360 box build - nearing completion
I had to apply quite a bit of pressure to crush those coppers and get it to seal nice. I thought I was going to wreck something as well. I still have one leaking a bit. I swear it seals better without them in there.

SORRY! the engine is a CB360 from a 1977 CJ360, I don't recall them being called out or I would have done it, I don't recall any gaskets requiring any sort of sealant applied, just all dry.
I will check my manual when I am home. I put the whole thing together as per the manual so I think i...
i was afraid someone would say that, I know on my old 7.3 ford diesel it doesn't like synthetic either, will start to leak out everywhere. I just run fossil oil in it. Looks like I will do a re-torque and switch the bike back!
Thanks
Dustin
Yes I am going to pull valve cover and re torque, I really don't want to have to pull the head again to add sealant to the gasket.
Because of where the head is leaking do you think I should apply some of the same grey sealant I used on the valve cover on the threads of those 2 outside bolts and...
Well had my bike out for its first real ride tonight and got it up to temp. Along with the build I also did all new gaskets and fresh rings/hone bead blasted pistons and stone ground gasket surfaces.
Base gasket seems not bad a little sweating but looks normal.
Head is leaking in 2 spots. Both...
So just got back from the bike shop and they proceeded to tell me they can no longer get B8es or 9 or anything without a resistor built in. According to him the resistor won't impede performance at all. He said he runs BRs in old bikes all the time and it no longer matters.
Anyone else chime in...
well i am going to go grab some new plugs from bike shop today now that they are open(yesterday was a holiday here in CAN)
going to grab some B8ES and B9ES. From what i read online though my bike shouldn't even barely run with BR series plugs if i had regular caps and coils?? is this true...
The bike had br8es in it when i bought it. I ran those for 3000 or so miles over 2 years never had any issues. So when i did the rebuild and switched carbs and such i just put new br8es in again. Then fouled those today and put br9es in because it's all i had at the shop. I don't think there...
Well I was messing around with my air/fuel settings today and fouled out the 8's and all I had around was a new set of 9s. Bike wouldn't even start with the fouled 8s threw the 9s in and ran fine. Are the plugs no good now? Sorry I don't know 4 strokes well. I know on sleds with plugs I just...
Not that I can tell. Also forgot to mention I have not set the timing with a light yet. Just the rest and I had it all apart. New points and such. Bike seems to run very very good with the 9s

Any harm in this? I know the 9 is a colder plug just wondering if it will hurt. Bike seems to run much better on 9s vs the 8s
I am running mikuni vm30s. pods. Straight pipe 360 headers.
Thanks

just rode the bike for the first time in 2.5 years and man does it feel good to know i put this thing together with my own hands. such a great feeling, thanks to everyone on this site that helped me along the way, pics and vids to come in my build thread later
ok i think i got it figured.
the problem i was having with the DIY cable is it did not have threading to go into my stock CJ360 handle control and throttle tube.
So i ordered the CB175 cable but the carb ends were too short and kept the carbs at 3/4 open.
I ended up taking both apart and...
After fighting around with the DIY throttle cable(how frustrating) i gave up and ordered a CB175 cable everyone said works and is pre assembled.
Problem is the two ends that attach to the carb seem to be too short? they were hard to compress the spring and get trough the slides and now they...
