I have done this on my xs.
The orginal couldn't keep the tiny battery charged at idle and you could watch the battery voltage drop.
I used a Yamaha Banshee timing plate, Yamaha Banshee Rotor, Honda VF500 stator and Honda VF500 R/R .
Making a whole lot more voltage now. The only prolem is...

- Virtually new throttle housing with switch housing and cable (xs650) and all for $2.00.
- 71 xs650 tail light and mount (to be used on my 72 Yamaha dt250 enduro resto) $10.00
- Orginal chain gaurd for the 72 dt250 -...
Finally have gotten far enough on the project to add to this thread.
Still needs the seat foam and a few cosmetics completed but just about done.

Well here we have it . The death toll for the cafe bike .
It has now became "trendy" in Toronto ::) Which means that the real "riders" will avoid them at all costs. All the work put into mine and now I will have to get rid of it.
