That brass washer is a sealing washer for the outlet adapter. Try holding the main body with a wrench and tightening the outlet adapter with another

Best bet is to see if you can get the msds sheets for both and compare. I would bet atf and fork oil use the same base oils but different additives.

I'll suggest instead of a radio get a small computer like a chromebox. Not that much more money and you can also use it to research when you hit a problem, quickly reference pictures when putting something back together, run spreadsheets for costs, etc.
Mine is a lifesaver all the time.

Late to the discussion, but I was recently searching for a decent light weight waxed jacket too.
I found searching not for something like "waxed canvas jacket" but for particular fabric manufactures turned up a whole lot of gems; some I liked some not so much. The one I ended up getting was...
One of my other hobbies is high performance light weight sailboats, mostly made of hand laid fiberglass or carbon. I'll make some suggestions from my knowledge that may be of use.
I use thin foam on any flat surface or anything with gradual curves, available from most fiberglass suppliers...
Alright, so finally life gave me a couple minutes to work on this. I took the carb back apart and inspected again. I also installed clear fuel lines so I could see the fuel flow; turns out the petcock that I rebuilt wasnt flowing any fuel. Took it apart and it the seal was swollen like a...
If I can get the bike running well enough to debug any other problems, I would rebuild the top end sooner than later. Just wanted to cover all the small things first.
I fully expect scooter type speeds and powers form this, but right now its a complete turd. Which stumps me because its appears...
Out of curiosity today I took my compression gauge to work and hooked it to our NIST certified pressure regulator that we use to calibrate relief valves (after much mucking with finding an adapter to the odd metric size). There is an offset present in the guage, it doesnt move off the needle...
A leakdown test has been on the agenda, once I find a decent way to block the intake.
However, can you please explain how a case leak would cause compression loss, I just don't see it. The cylinder is essentially at atmospheric pressure until it passes the exhaust port, that's where compression...
The head dome is gigantic as well, and as you can see the piston is relatively flat. No squish zone like I'm used to seeing. That coupled with the baffle muffler that came on these and they had to be terribly inefficient even new.

Ran a couple more compression tests. Got the same 80psi dry, add a little oil and it only goes up about 2-3psi. Even if the scale of my gauge is off this should indicate a serviceable piston and rings in my experience. Thoughts? A case leak is a possibility, but I would think that couldn't have...
I do, but it does not give specifications for compression. It only states a compression ratio of 8:1 which is low to begin with. Ive previously read that 2T tend to have lower readings compared to 4T so I dont know how to translate this to an expected compression reading. (seems there is much...
Forgot to mention, I did check compression. Results were around 80psi before and after all work. This seems slightly low to me but I suspect may be pretty close for a mass market 2T of the era.
Plug was changed from the get go with an exact replacement gaped to the specs in the bike's manual...
