Two basketcases for one in better shape.

Re: Two basketcases for one. Here's the GPZ. Better pictures of both bikes available for asking.

Two basketcases for one in better shape.

1983 Kawasaki GPZ750 - 57k miles. Turns over, seems to have good compression. Have the carbs pulled since they were full of varnish. Monoshock rear end with an "updated" KZ750 engine from what I understand. Wiring harness is a little fried under the tank. - No Title - 1977 Yamaha XS650 -...

DO THE TON Mama Tried IV Oct 2013 - Barber Vintage Festival

Never did manage to make it over there. We were going to crash the gate with our scooters yelling "MODS MODS MODS!" but turns out spending all day behind a table at the swap meet area is serious business. Apparently the old folks didn't take kindly to us partying all night though... cops...

motorcycle technician certification: who has them and how did you get them

If I had it to do all over again, I'd start taking small engine & welding classes at the local community college, followed up with "larger" engine classes, and work at a local motorcycle shop part-time. Most folks I talk to who have gone the "MMI"-only route have ended up as low-paid...

    WTB/WTT: Honda CB/CL175/200 Intake Manifolds

Need a pair of intake manifolds for a CB/CL175. Looking for the aluminum long ones. Every time they pop up on *bay the seller thinks they're worth more than a complete bike. Will also consider un-cracked CB/CL200 manifolds, but not idea. Have a number of parts for trade, or buy a pair...

Is this an amazing find? NORTON!

A "running" one is rare enough now. Hell, I can probably still change the engine in the GT250R blindfolded.... -=Tom

    Bike wont start help...

If so, it's possibly a loose tensioner, so you'll want to look at that as well. Parts are available from Yamaha, or from BikeBandit. Look up your year/make and go from there. http://www.bikebandit.com/ -=Tom

    '02 Vino 50cc anyone?

Yeah, and you can usually find them in my dumpster after they drop a valve :) The Vino 2T is pretty nice. 40ish mph if they've done the de-restrict (washer in the exhaust, washer on the variator) 32ish if they haven't. At about 10,000 miles you'll want to make sure the belt & variator weights...

Is this an amazing find? NORTON!

Corbin Gunfighter seat, clean it up & ride, or find the "Fastback" seat he probably has with his extra parts. Check the exhaust stubs. After awhile the pipes will "walk" off the ends of them, and/or the threads will strip in the head. There's a couple fixes for it. Ditch the AMAL carb (and by...

    Shop in New Orleans area?

Dave's in with the NOLA Ruckus guys, and we usually have a couple kicking around the shop in various states. Whenever folks look for parts they send them his way. http://www.nolaruckussociety.com/ -=Tom

    Shop in New Orleans area?

He's a Europhile, and does mostly older Ducati, Guzzi & BMWs. He was on Magazine Street, then moved to Claiborne Avenue by the Dome, before finally moving out to Jefferson. I will say, for both the good & bad, I wouldn't be half the mechanic I am now without him. -=Tom

    Shop in New Orleans area?

That's me. You probably talked to Dave, since I'm not a "people person" (and usually too busy) or Jeff. We do a little bit of everything, probably 50/50 split motorcycles and scooters. We started as a scooter shop on the Westbank (Barataria) and moved when the original owner decided he...

    Shop in New Orleans area?

Chuck and I have "history" ... However I will say he's capable of some amazing work. Having said that, I'm surprised he'd take a japanese-bike project. -Tom

What do your shops look like?

1982 CB900F. I've been piecing it back together using bits from a CB900C we have in the back with a bad motor & trying to decide what to do with it since I'm *supposed* to be working on my Ambo, SV & the CL200 :) It'll start, run & idle well enough, missing the front master cylinder & the P/O...
