Oil drained and adding new oil today - advice on how many quarts a 1971 cb450 takes?
okay guys so i did the points and the timing - and i did a BENCH sync on the carbs.
i got it idling pretty damn good but once i take off the choke i does in fact stay at good idle but then i go to give it...
Is this common? Right side throttle cable screw it lost all the way in where the left side throttle cable is almost all the way out. And that seems to make the idle happy.... :o
Update - I was messing with the throttle cable adjuster screw and I opened it almost all the way and got suction from left carb . After turning off choke it does not idle high anymore but it does still shut off....
Also there is a hose located on top side of motor on carb side dead center this...
Pulled the left spark plug spark seems good and it turns on with it off.
Pulled the right spark plug and it won't star with it off... Sparked good though.
Maybe a condenser issue? Would a condenser cause no suction from left carb though?
I lowered the idle screws out all the way I also closed out the throttle cable screws all the way in to close the blade fully. It starts right up with choke on once off it goes up to 3k rpm and it dies off.
I did just notice no vacuum coming from left carb.
And what seems like normal vacuum...
It was stuck about half way with black electrical tape. ! I got her turning on and stay in on.
Now next issue!
Key on, choke on, switch on position, gas on, START.
It starts but as soon as I turn off the choke it idles really high maybe 4500 - 5500 rpm what do I look at next?
I got the bike running but now something is up with my throttle cable it's not returning the throttle blades to fully closed not sure what I f%#^* up need help asap! Thanks .
It was plugged. Removed now working properly getting fuel from both.
So I also cleaned up the carbs and upon reinstall the throttle blades are not seated all the way is this normal!?
I loosen the nut but still not seated all the way they are a little less the half way open.
Just removed the carbs to clean . Wasn't getting gas on ON position only on RESERVE. Does it matter what peacock connection connect to which carburetor or no? Also is this a bad pet cock or did I install wrong? Only works on reserve....
I had the bike running perfect before G/F let it sit for about two years. top end has always been noisy but ran great.
the tank recently flash rusted and i cleaned it out and replaced the gas cap gasket and pet cock its all clean and good now.
i cleaned the carbs.
i did the timing myself...
