Weird tail light behavior (defective replacement unit?)

OK, here's a weird one... I have a '71 CB500 with the Off/Low/High headlamp switch. Recently, I replaced the stock tail light on the 71 CB500 with this unit from Dime City...

    Stiffening forks ?

I put constant-wind Racetek springs with factory-spec oil volume in my CB500 along with a hefty (about a 1", maybe a bit more) pre-load spacer- I hear from several friends that this is a good way to go for a stiffer, more modern "feel" (even though it's not truly stiffer, just rebounds a bit...

    CB500K0 Fork Tube Nut

Bike Bandit is my usual go-to for specific parts like this.

CB500 fork question: damper rod too short???

UPDATE: The threaded rod inside the damper assembly *does* slide - it was just seized somehow. A few quick hits from a mallet freed the bind, allowing the rod to extend another 3" or so, plenty of length to allow for re-assembly. Not sure what caused it to bind like that (old oil? who knows?)...

CB500 fork question: damper rod too short???

I'm in the process of putting in Racetek springs in my '71 CB500 forks and have a problem: one of the damper rods seems too short! I put one together and the central rod (where the cap nut threads onto, compressing the spring) was about 3" longer than the upper fork tube, which allowed me to...

Pod filters: re-jet or just adjust mixture??

The Dime City "K&N Style" units (http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-carburetor-intake-parts-39mm-k-and-n-pod-airfilter-12-55739.html). Several friends have said they wear well and the price is great.

Brand new master cylinder not producing any pressure.

For what it's worth, I highly recommend a vacuum bleeder - I bought one for approx. $25 from a speed shop when I needed to do some brake work on my classic Mini Cooper, and have ended up using it SEVERAL times on bikes as well, mainly because it's so freaking easy to do a one-man bleed on...

    Is there such a thing as a bolt-up dual-disc setup for CB500?

Wondering if anyone can recommend a bolt-up solution to add dual discs to a '71 CB500F? I like the look and setup of Randaak's new brake master cylinder (Model A: http://www.randakks.com/Brake%20Parts.htm), and figure if I'm increasing capacity I might as well look into also improving stopping...

Pod filters: re-jet or just adjust mixture??

I'm planning on installing pod filters on my '71 CB500F (running stock carbs w/ non-stock 4-1 Mac exhaust and electronic ignition, not old-skool OEM points), and was advised by the helpful staff over at Dime City that: "Re-jetting is not necessary... you should only have to adjust air/fuel...

    Exhaust adapter recommendation, please?

I'm trying to fit the Dime City "Shorty" exhaust (http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-exhaust-parts-12-inch-shorty-muffler-80-03310.html)onto my CB500, which is fitted with a 4-into-1 system. The problem I'm having is finding accurate...

    CB500 Flasher Relay Question

Re-doing the wiring for a '71 CB500... Bike runs fine and electric starter works great, but when I hook the (brand new) flasher relay into the circuit, I blow the 15A main fuse as soon as I switch on the key. I am NOT activating the flashers (switch is set to the center position), just turning...

Need battery and associated electrical recommendations, please for CB500

Sorry to make a new thread - I know this is covered elsewhere, but I can't find any other thread specific to the CB500 (apologies in advance if I missed it). I'm wanting to replace the stock "wet" lead-acid battery on my '71 CB500 with one of the new, smaller sealed units - for now, I'll keep...

    Odd switch behavior - turn-signals on CB500?

Finally got my handlebar wiring all sussed-out and run through my clubman bars, but I'm having an odd issue I wonder if anyone else has run across: With the clam-shell housing off the bike the turn signal rocker switch works fine, but when I clamp the housing to the bars it STOPS WORKING...

    rear sets on the cheap

Hmmmmmmm... and the linkages all worked the same? Got a pic by any chance? Gotta see if this is even possible with my bike, but thanks for the interesting idea. Way to think outside the box! :)
