    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Just balanced in position for the moment, but happy with the proportions and the way I can get the bottom of the tank to line up with the seat.

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Just received (yesterday) the Benelli Mojave tank (yawn, I know, I know...) which is absolutely perfect for what I want. All the way from India, with fuel tap and Monza cap delivered to the door for £150 all in.. can't complain. Quality is very good, tank treated inside, well oiled outside to...

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Discovered it's a 40-spoke CB450 drum - the CB77s have 36 spokes (every day is a school day for me!). EDIT: rear is also a 40-spoke with a larger drum, again from a CB450 I presume.

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

That was my plan. Been looking at various Tritons and working out best angle – follow the frame tube is an obvious one but looks too 'upright', so prefer more of a sweptback look. It may not work visually because of the engine sitting further forward in the frame compared to the Triton, but I...

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Nice post... You clearly don't live in the UK... ::) Not got into the engine yet, but the carbs are very good, with no scoring to the pistons at all. As it's been kept inside, and with the plugs in the carbs, there is no corrosion on the back side of the valves or seats. Thanks... The more I...

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Began the big strip down yesterday and only found one nasty surprise so far: a broken top yoke as a result of somebody over-tightening the pinch bolt on the left side fork leg. A nice surprise was seeing the amount of effort somebody had put into blending the inlet ports to match the Amals and...

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Started to investigate the bike a little more. Nice to see that it looks like it's never been thrown down the road as the cases are not scuffed, the foot pegs aren't bent and the mufflers are unmarked. There are no rounded-off nuts and bolts BUT the wiring is hilarious. The builder also didn't...

    Newbie project 1973 CB250K4

Just thought I'd drop by and say hi. Just picked up a new project: 1973 Honda CB250K4 which was built as a café racer back in the day, and then finally abandoned in the owner's father's workshop for 21 years... Has some typical period home-brewed detailing, such as crude gauge mounting plate...
