    Yamaha VIN woes!

I'm in the process of restoring an old yamaha xs750, making it a cafe racer. I just noticed that when the powdercoaters blasted and subsequently coated the frame, the already faint VIN stamped on the headtube has disappeared! When I bought the bike, there was no badge on the headtube, although...

New XS750 (Triple) Project **UPDATE 3/29/11 with pictures!**

CRAP!!!! I just noticed that when the powdercoater blasted the frame, and recoated it, the already faint VIN number that was stamped on the headtube has disappeared completely! The engine one is different than the frame, and the frame is the one that matches the title! WHAT DO I DO??

New XS750 (Triple) Project **UPDATE 3/29/11 with pictures!**

Yes, but I plan on using the electric starter motor most of the time. 3 cylinder 750cc is no easy kick, but if the starter motor dies, all I have to do is remove the rearset (its just one bolt holding it on) and I have plenty of clearance.

they are the loaded gun universal rearsets from dime city city cycles. The linkage is from them as well, and the shift and brake arms are from fastfromthepast.com. The mounting brackets theyre on are stock on the bike, they are where the passenger pegs would normally go.

Rocketman, here are the images of the rearsets. Juggernaut, to be honest I'm not sure where the fork brace came from, the PO had it installed with the bike when I bought it. When I'm out working on it next ill look for some sort of brand or something and get back to you.

I thought that too, but believe it or not thats the way it is supposed to be mounted, its printed right on the tire.

Update! I'm getting SO close to finishing this damn project! Haha all I have left to do is check valve clearances, finish up the wiring, wrap and mount the exhaust, and then fire her up! Yes, the paint on the seat and tank look off, thats just the lighting, its actually very close in real life.

    Lacing wheels

If its anything like a bicycle wheel, which i imagine it is, when you find the high spot (where its farthest from the indicator) you loosen the 4 spokes closest to it a quarter turn (2 spokes going to the left side of the hub, and 2 to the right), and then opposite the high spot, tighten 4...

    Juggernaut XS750 "Antichrome"

Re: Juggernaut XS750 Cafe Racer Haha i think i was the one who posted that, and yes, I did a bit of homework before I decided to PC the engine. I'm using a high temp engine specific PC, which is not only formulated to take the heat of the engine, but also lays on much thinner than a standard...

    CB360 Cafe Project

Re: CB360 Cafe Project *Engine Time* Love the look of that engine. I took all my side covers off on mine with the intent to wire wheel them down and then polish them up. I got them down to bare metal and decided that i liked the look so much i was going to keep it. Seems like you did...

Yeah thats what I was planning on doing as well for the license plate. Any idea how you're going to hook it up to the wiring harness/do you have a link for the illuminated surrounds?

    Juggernaut XS750 "Antichrome"

Re: Juggernaut XS750 Cafe Racer yeah, the bike came with a 3-1 header, so I'm just going to run a shorty muffler off that. If you were talking about the rearsets, I'm still waiting for the engine to come back from PC before I can assemble it and put it in the frame to find out what i need...
