We banged out a front numberplate today. Baby steps towards finishing this thing sometime in the future... 8)
Some close ups, still needs some finishing touches.
Holy smokes its been ages! There has been some progress for the first time in quite a while. Last time I updated we had mocked up a rough outline for the seat and exhaust and thats where the story continues...
These are from yesterday and today.
Damn... Time flies and work gets in the way of hobbies so progress has been slooooooow. :-[
Managed to get the new wheels under the bike a little while ago and had a little brainstorming session with my buddy how we should proceed.
Here's a tiny teaser whats in the works.
Well then... Its been awhile!
Out with the old plans and in with totally new ideas! I accidentally posted a photo of Engineered to Slide's HiRider on my FB page and my friend (and chief welder/custom builder) saw it and gave me a call. He had a wild vision and convinced me that this would be...
Hmmmm an older mx tank might be a good idea too. I'll have to ask around if somebody has those stashed somewhere. My friend owns a scrapyard nearby but he didn't have anything there at the moment. Have to ask around some others too. The XT500 aluminum tank would be ideal, but hugely expensive...
Unfortunately no! I've been damn lazy and haven't done anything except washed the bike from old grease, etc. Fortunately our riding season is at an end and I can get my ass in gear through the winter with the Dominator.
My friend brought me another tank to see how it'd fit, but it was too...
Re: Honda NX650 Dominator tracker - DONE!
Did you keep the original carb or did you upgrade it?
The bike looks amazing! Wish mine would be finished already, but I backtracked a bit since I wasn't totally happy with the tank. Luckily my friend has various old tanks in his garage so I can try...
Rims have arrived!! Nice and black Moose Racing rims. Only bad thing is that work is taking up too much of my time and haven't had a chance to disassemble the wheels yet! Vacation time is just around the corner tho! 8)
As far as the exhaust goes, I'm a bit undecided. Saw this and this might...
Thanks! The exhaust will change. We decided to make the whole thing all over from the beginning to the end! 8)
The process is at a bit of a halt right now but new rims should be here soooooon! Can't wait to get them laced up and under the bike!
That's true! Thats about as low as that tank will go without some serious cutting. I think the XT500 tank that's on the Kiddo Dos might be a bit bigger so it might sit a bit lower and close that gap nicely. It doesn't bother me too much yet, but it might at some point. When it gets to that point...
Tiny update and a pic of the new foot pegs as promised.
The metal work is soon over and we can get to cleaning up all the welds, etc. Then some, most likely, tedious eletrical stuff. Need to basically redo all the wiring. Once the thing is running, then disassembly and powder coating can...
